Sail GP - Portsmouth

We were delighted to be a structure supplier to the prestigious Sail GP event held in Portsmouth in July 2025.

Worcestershire Wedding Marquee

Worcestershire Garden Wedding Marquee

Nice and local to us, this well cared for garden became home to one of our wedding marquees for a couple last summer.

A festoon lit walkway led people along the gravel pathway beside the family home on to a lawn where a 6m x 6m Chinese Hat Pagoda entrance marquee provided a stunning entrance from the lawn.

This 12m wide x 30m long main space housed a central circular bar, board floor and new carpet, with elegant round tables and Oak crossback chairs. In the roof space, large floral displays broke up the ivory pleated linings and were symmetrically flanked by crystal chandeliers.

Warm white uplighters back-lit the windows and par can lighting hidden in the roof of the entrance Chinese Hat all helped to provide a really nice look and feel for the evening reception.

Lastly, we lit up some garden features including trees near the entrance to really create a different look and feel within this family garden setting.

Our Marquee Erector roles

We may be biased, but here at West Country Marquees Ltd we think we have a great team. However, our busy summer period ahead means we are looking to recruit more great people to join us.

We are looking for hard working, punctual individuals with an eye for detail who enjoy working as part of a team.

We work from our base near Upton-upon-Severn. A clean driving licence is advantageous, but not essential, although you will be required to get to and from our base each day.

We typically work 8/9 hours days starting at 7.30am / 8am every morning, midweek. The work is outside and can be physically demanding. We have roles available that are 3 days a week, or 4+ days a week as a minimum. In our busiest times we also have weekend work available.

No previous marquee experience is required, on the job training is provided.

We provide marquees for a variety of events; from weddings and private partes, to corporate and sporting events and festivals (and everything in between).

The main roles of a marquee erector are to:

· Assist in the erection and installation of our range of marquees

· Install associated marquee products, such as flooring, linings, furniture, dance floors, etc.

· Assist in the de-rig of our marquees after events

· Following company practices and procedures, including those around Health and Safety

· Working as part of a team

· Loading and unloading marquee equipment

· Ensuring company standards are upheld, including completing jobs to a high standard, and being polite when on site with customers.

Autumn Party Marquee in the Cotswolds

A busy Autumn period continued for West Country Marquees this week when we provided this stunning Party Marquee in the Cotswolds.

It was great to work closely with the talented Progression Events to provide marquees & production for this 50th birthday party. We installed 12m x 33m & 9m x 15m clear roofed marquees along with a pagoda for show cooking.

The structures were heated using indirect marquee heaters along with infra-red overhead units.

Kinver Wedding Marquee

We were delighted to help supply the wedding marquee & furniture for this lovely Kinver couple for their wedding in the summer of 2023.

West Country Marquees provided a 12m clearspan marquee with a chinese hat entrance, the marquee was fitted out with board floor & carpet along with black LED starlight linings which are always a hit for early/mid summer weddings when the nights are shorter.

We also supply our rustic bar unit, a semi-circle for this wedding but it can be booked as a full round bar. Our rustic lighting bars with Edison bulbs complemented the popular oak crossback chairs.

Quirky Gloucestershire Wedding Marquee

Last summer gave us one of more entertaining & memorable weddings when we supplied the lovely Imogen & Jack with their wedding marquees held in the grounds of the stunning Twyning Park in Gloucestershire.

With an owl as the ring bearer, "champonies/unicorns" as the bar staff and the couples unique design for the marquees it certainly was a great day.

West Country Marquees supplied a ceremony marquee for the river meadow followed by a larger marquee on the main lawn for dining & dancing, it was all capped off with a spectacular firework display.

Imogen & Jack wanted a more industrial look so opted to decorate our marquee using streamers, foliage and even a boat bar. We supplied our rustic trestle tables along with oak cross back chairs, we also supplied our all weather wood effect dancefloor.

Malvern College Leavers' Ball

We again helped Malvern College with the marquees for their leavers' ball earlier in the summer.

After a couple of years hit hard by Covid, the college asked us to provide a large marquee for the after dinner party. We provided a range of 6m & 9m marquees to fit onto their upper terrace, all restrained with our concrete blocks.

The marquee was used as a large bar/social area with a bolt on of a starlit dancefloor marquee.

Hire an Acoustic Roaming Band

A roaming band is also known as a wandering band or wandering musicians will as in the title roam around inside and outside the marquee while guests and clients mingle, chat and have a few drinks.

The great thing about a roaming band is they are not tied to one spot like a stage. They perform unamplified, so no wires and leads get in the way.

The Detail

Measuring 12ft in diameter our clear domes seat 6-8 comfortably on either a rectangular or round table. They provide 10 square metres of space. They require 4m x 4m of flat space and can be installed on grass or hardstanding (i.e. a patio).

At the centre they are 2m high internally.

We need access for a vehicle and if in a garden access via a side gate.

They are all clear and come with a zipped entrance / exit. They have a clear panoramic domed roof section.

They can be installed on grass, artificial grass, patios, and even decking.

Pricing

Our most popular package includes; dome hire, flooring, lighting, a rustic trestle table, 6 chairs and heating and starts at £300 + VAT.

Depending on your hire location there may be a delivery and collection charge based on mileage. Typical hire is for 3 nights.

Colourful Herefordshire Wedding

Wedding Marquee Decoration

Back in June 2019 we supplied this stunning wedding marquee for a reception in Herefordshire.

The bride & groom opted for our contemporary flat linings with rustic lighting bars, the couple then decorated the marquee using colourful pompoms. The flooring and furniture followed a rustic theme to match the lighting bars, using our weave matting, crossback chairs and rustic trestle tables to great effect.

Walkways, Waiting Rooms & Monitoring Areas

Ever since the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was approved for use in the UK and vaccinations for Covid-19 have been taking place we have been busy providing extra space at NHS sites. Now with the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccine approved that can be stored at lower temperatures, marquee hire can be the perfect solution to providing extra space to help with immunisation.

Vaccine marquee hire is a cost effective and flexible way of adding space to those waiting to receive the vaccination or being monitored after they have received their vaccine jab.

Vaccine and immunisation marquee structures can be floored, heated, lit, installed on hard standing or on grass, and can be as big or as small as required.

We have the ability, knowledge and expertise to turn around a vaccine marquee installation within a matter of days if required. A vaccine marquee can be a short term or long-term solution and we are looking forward to providing marquee structures for more NHS sites, GP Practices and Surgeries.

This blog shows some photos of a small 3m x 9m vaccine marquee in the West Midlands showing a set of double-glazed doors, infrared heaters, LED strip lights. This marquee was weighted down as it was built on block paving. We also installed a back up generator to help should the Doctors Practice have a power cut, to ensure the fridges keeping the vaccine cool kept running.

After recent installs in Edinburgh, Leeds, Burnley, London, Worcester, West Midlands, Birmingham, Northampton, Wales, and Eastleigh we do have the ability to provide vaccine marquees anywhere in the UK at short notice.

Covid Testing Sites

Nationwide Covid-19 Test Site Installation

Not our normal work and we wish it wasn't required but we've been busy setting up Covid-19 test sites and on site labs throughout the UK.

Our teams have set up numerous sites now including Edinburgh & Gatwick airports along with other test sites in Deeside, Manchester, Stansted, Exeter and Ramsgate. The work has included the installation of 8 lane drive through test centres using our clearspan marquees and concrete weights, we've also turned our hand to delivery & install collapsible modular buildings.

With the sites expected to be required for at least 6 months, we're continually investing in more marquees and concrete ballast to satisfy the hire demand we're experiencing.

Bespoke Cafe Walling

Pittville Pump Room Cafe

We were recently asked by a regular customer if we could use help them with to create walling to act as a windbreak at the historic Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.

For once we didn't have a suitable 'off the shelf' product so opted to supply a bespoke pvc walling option using clear window panels with coloured pvc surrounds & straps to blend in with the building as much as possible. Each panel is 4m high to help to protect the cafe's staff & customers from the prevailing winds. Zipped doorways are added to allow for customer access.

Semi-Permanent Garden Bar Marquee

As well as hiring out our structures in a number of settings to help businesses, the NHS and educational settings cope with the Covid pandemic we have also worked with several customers who have looked to purchase their very own marquee.

These images come from Cheltenham Town Hall, where we worked closely with them to purchase a bespoke marquee enabling them to keep their Garden Bar operational throughout summer 2020 and indeed into the Autumn and Winter.

A part 3m high leg and part 2.3m high leg helped navigate the steps leading up to the Garden Bar, whilst 3m tall panoramic window walls allow for scenic views across the Imperial Gardens.

Small, Intimate Summer Wedding

Despite the challenges that 2020 has brought every couple planning a wedding marquee, we have been able to work closely with some couples who still opted to go ahead with their wedding, albeit on a much smaller scale.

This wedding marquee, from September 2020, created a beautifully intimate space at a Covid secure wedding venue in Usk, for a wonderful couple to celebrate their big day.

University Covid Structures

Temporary Structures for Student Facilities

We've recently been working with Universities to provide social distancing marquees for students in and around campus.

Our temporary structures have been utilised to provide cover for canteens, mask/welcome pack distribution along and also for 'pop up' coffee shops. Our flexible approach to hire has allowed Universities to book our marquees on a short term basis and then to extend hire (in some cases for 6 months) to ensure students are catered for going into the colder Autumn & Winter months.

Building your Wedding Marquee

When you hire West Country Marquees you can be assured of a smooth run up to your wedding day.

We will arrive at an agreed day & time, be careful of your property & grounds and we have a courteous team. We always look to erect wedding marquees at least a full day before your wedding to provide you along with your florist & caterer plenty of time to dress your marquee.

We normally take marquees down on Mondays or Tuesdays to give you time after your wedding to remove personal possessions and to perhaps use the marquee again the day after your wedding.

Gloucestershire Wedding Marquee

We love working in the countryside and this rural Gloucestershire wedding in Corse Lawn was certainly a highlight.

We provided a clearspan wedding marquee with double pagoda entrance. The lawn was filled with our garden furniture sets and parasols and enclosed using picket fencing. Inside we provided our stunning crossback chairs and a combination of long trestle tables and square tables. We even arranged for coloured table linen for a classy finish.

Merchandising Marquees

West Country Marquees were contacted by a leading sports management company to provide marquees for merchandise stores when NFL came to London.

We provided a number of different structures at Wembley, Twickenham and also for the Regent Street party.

The marquees ranged from smaller 3m x 12m walk ups to a massive 100m long walk in shop. Our staff even helped to install a 4m high shop display unit used to mount NFL merchandise.

The marquees were installed to strict timescales including a tight overnight build on Regent Street and our staff were on hand on match days as event support.

Long Term Marquee Hire

@ QE Hospital, Birmingham

We were recently contacted by the NHS to provide a long term marquee queueing solution at the QE Hospital in Birmingham.

We successfully provided a 3m x 30m walkway and a 4.5m x 6m link marquee to cover patients as they wait to enter the new patients department at the hospital. The marquee was secured using our 500kg concrete weights that are an ideal solution when working at sites where it isn't possible to stake a structure.
